Navy gallantry museum to come up in Lucknow: Jaiveer Singh

Lucknow, May 1 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government, in collaboration with the Indian Navy, is set to set up a grand Navy Gallantry Museum in the state capital, Lucknow, dedicated to showcasing the valour and legacy of the Indian Navy.
Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh on Thursday said that the museum will serve as a powerful source of inspiration for the youth and a new centre of attraction for tourists.
"The museum will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR), offering immersive experiences of naval operations, warships, submarines and life in the Navy. Historical documents and multimedia displays will narrate the stories of naval bravery, bringing the Navy's rich legacy closer to the public," he said.
He said that strategically located near Ekana Stadium, the museum is poised to become a key destination in Lucknow's landscape.
"It will feature a wide range of exhibits, including retired naval warship INS Gomti and its operational equipment, along with iconic Navy aircraft such as the Sea King helicopter and Sea Harrier jet. Visitors will get a close look at naval weaponry, including missiles, torpedoes and cannons, he said.
The Minister said that this will be a unique museum that will comprehensively display decommissioned naval vessels and equipment, serving not only as a tourist attraction but also as a resource for research.
"Students, historians and scholars will gain access to rare naval documents and artefacts. Besides, regular workshops and lectures by experts will offer deeper insights into naval history, strategy and environmental impacts of maritime operations," he said.
He said that the museum will include thematic zones, each dedicated to a specific era or type of naval warfare.
"Interactive installations designed especially for children will promote learning through play and exploration, encouraging meaningful engagement for families. A 'Remembrance Garden' will also be developed to honour the bravery and sacrifice of the Navy a tranquil space where visitors can pay tribute to those who served the nation," he said.
