Neja fair not to be organised in Sambhal

Sambhal (UP), Mar 17 (UNI) Sambhal police administration on Monday said that permission will not be given for the Neja fair, which is held every year in the memory of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi.
In the meeting of Neja Mela Committee on Sunday, it was decided to plant the shield of the fair on Tuesday, for which a procession was to start from Chaman Sarai Mohalla and reach in front of the police station via the prescribed routes. The shield of Neja Mela was to go there.
On Monday, a meeting of Neja Mela Committee was held in Sambhal Kotwali with Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shrishchand. In the meeting, the ASP said that Syed Salar Masood Ghazi was a robber and permission to organise a fair in the name of a robber will not be given under any circumstances.
The ASP said that if a fair is to be organised, then talk to the magistrate. In the meeting, the members of the Mela Committee said that religious events are held here, on which the ASP said that these events are wrong.
He said that it is a bad practice which they are doing out of ignorance. He said that a person who looted the Somnath temple, looted the country's property. How can we support those who massacred people? Ghaznavi's nephew Masood Ghazi had committed atrocities in India. If some evil practice has been going on for years, then it needs to be changed.
People from the other side had lodged an objection with the police administration on this event. Permission for organising the fair is not being given due to security reasons. For organising Neja Mela, the shield of the fair is erected on the first Tuesday after Holi, then the fair is set up from the second Tuesday. This event has been going on for a long time.
