Srinagar, Mar 8 (UNI) Isolated to fairly widespread light rain and snow, accompanied by thunderstorms, is expected in Jammu and Kashmir from Monday and continue for the next four days, an officials said.
The Meteorological Centre Srinagar mainly dry weather is expected in the next 24 hours.
They predicted isolated to fairly widespread light rain and snow from March 10-14.
“On March 10, there is a prediction of fairly widespread rain or snow in Kashmir region and scattered rain in Jammu division,” MeT said.
Meanwhile, the minimum night temperature in Kashmir Division was 1-2°C below normal, while in Jammu Division, it was mostly normal except in Jammu, where it was 3°C below normal.
The lowest temperature in Kashmir Division was recorded at the tourist resort of Sonamarg in Ganderbal district, where the mercury plummeted to -7.3°C last night.
Another popular hill station, Pahalgam in Anantnag district, recorded a minimum temperature of -2.6°C, while the ski resort of Gulmarg in Baramulla registered -4.5°C.
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.6°C.
The maximum day temperature was 1-2°C above normal in many parts of Kashmir Division and 1-3°C above normal in Jammu Division.
There was heavy snowfall in the last week of February and rains on March 3-4 in J&K which reduced the overall precipitation deficit to below 50%. The heavy rain and snow from the last week of February provided much-needed relief from the prolonged dry condition.
