AP: Minister assures farmers of buying paddy submerged in untimely rains

Kakinada, May 5(UNI): Andhra Pradesh Minister for Civil Supplies Nadendla Manohar on Monday assured farmers that the government would buy the paddy submerged in the untimely rains that lashed the coastal areas and need not have any apprehensions.
Manohan was interacting with the farmers at Katravulapalli in Jaggampeta mandal near here after inspecting the paddy soaked but being dried up spreading Tarpaulins in the fields .
He also advised the farmers not to fall prey in the hands of middlemen and dispose of the paddy at lower price.
The present alliance government is wedded to farmers' welfare and stands by them in the present difficult situation.
The previous YSRCP government during Rabi season purchased only 25,000 Metric tones of paddy, but the present government has purchased 59,000 metric tons during this Rabi season which is almost double ‘ he added.
Reiterating that all the paddy with the farmers would be purchased, he asked them not to get disheartened. Manohar further assured that he would personally take up the issue to the attention of Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pavan Kalyan and render justice.
The Minister warned that any official found negligent in buying the paddy from the farmers would be placed under suspension.
Joint Collector Rahul Meena, State Civil Supplies Corporation chairman Thota Sudhir, KUDA chairman Tummala Ramaswamy, and Joint Director Agriculture Vijaykumar accompanied the Minister during his field visits in Peddapuram and Jaggampeta mandals. UNI KNR SSP
