Vivek assumes charge as Telangana Labour and Mining Minister, vows to uplift workers and strengthen skill development

Hyderabad, June 18 (UNI) Vivek Venkataswamy formally assumed charge as Telangana’s Minister for Labour, Employment, Training, Factories, Mining and Geology at the State Secretariat on Wednesday.
Speaking to the media on the occasion, he expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and party leadership for entrusting him with the key portfolio.
Vivek said he was proud to take charge of the same Labour Department that was previously held by his father, the late G Venkataswamy, and his elder brother.
He noted that the opportunity to serve the labour and weaker sections of society again was a matter of personal pride and responsibility.
Representing the Chennur/Peddapalli region, which includes a significant population of Singareni coal mine workers, Vivek assured that he would work tirelessly for their welfare.
He emphasised the strict implementation of existing labour welfare laws and schemes and pledged to be a strong voice for workers across the state.
Highlighting future initiatives, he announced that a special policy for gig workers, inspired by the guidance of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, is being developed. A dedicated conference will soon be held to discuss and finalise this policy.
On the mining front, he stated that sand availability for the common man will be streamlined and a comprehensive sand policy will be formulated to improve revenue for implementing government welfare schemes.
In a major move for skill development, the minister revealed that the first file signed under his leadership involves collaboration with Tata Technologies to introduce 46 new advanced courses in government ITIs, with a total investment of Rs 2,076 crore. These courses, jointly developed by the state government and Tata Technologies, are expected to set a benchmark nationwide.
Minister Vivek sought the media's support in driving forward the departments under his leadership for the greater good of Telangana's workforce and economy.
