Bengaluru, May 4 (UNI) BJP MP Tejasvi Surya has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to transfer the investigation into the murder of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), citing a disturbing pattern of targeted killings allegedly involving banned organisations like the Popular Front of India (PFI).
In a letter addressed to Shah, Surya said the brutal killing of Shetty in broad daylight at Bajpe in Mangaluru on May 1 had triggered panic among the Hindu community in coastal Karnataka. He alleged that the attack bore the hallmarks of a larger conspiracy and warranted investigation by a central agency.
"The NIA has in the past uncovered PFI’s role in such targeted killings, and there is growing suspicion that similar forces may be behind this incident as well," the Bengaluru South MP wrote.
Surya further accused the Congress-led Karnataka government of failing to curb rising radical activity in the coastal region. He pointed to the 2022 killing of Praveen Nettaru as part of a series of such crimes under the current dispensation.
"A fair, transparent and thorough investigation by the NIA is essential to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore public confidence," he said.
