Bomb threats to Kerala CMO, Cliff House, Raj Bhavan, Traffic Commissioner Office

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 28 (UNI) Citing bomb threats to multiple locations in the Kerala capital, state police tightened security measures at the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) in Government Secretariat, his official residence 'Cliff House', Governor's Raj Bhavan and City Traffic Commissioner's Office here on Monday.

The police conducted inspections at all these places after the Chief Minister's Office received bomb threats to multiple locations through an email this morning, sources said.

The email, demanding Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stop his Government's campaign against the drug mafia, said bombs will explode before 2 pm at all these locations.

Meanwhile, another bomb threat was received by the Cochin Airport authority in Kochi this morning, forcing the agencies to tighten security for passengers and their baggage.

On Sunday, the Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and the railway station also received similar bomb threats.

Though the police began a probe into the incidents, the source of the threat has not been found.

The State has already received several bomb threats from unknown sources for the last so many days. But the recent bomb threats were received ahead of the prime minister's visit to State Capital to inaugurate Vizhinjam Seaport on May 2.

Earlier, bomb threats were received at several hotels in this city, including at the Hilton Garden Hotel, the South Park and the Gokulam Grand Hotel in Akkulam. Bomb threats also received to several collectorates, including in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Palakkad, and Kottayam districts.
