ACB catches Dy Executive Engineer, EWIDC, Adilabad, accepting Rs 50,000 as bribe

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) The sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught red-handed a Deputy Executive Engineer, Educational & Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (EWIDC), Adilabad red-handed when he was accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.

At about 1633 hours on Tuesday, the Accused Officer Jinnamwar Shankar was caught red-handed at the construction site of the Minority Residential School (Girls), Adilabad Town, Mandal & District when he had demanded Rs 1 lakh and accepted Rs 50,000 as a reward from the complainant for showing an official favour --- "the sanctioned bill of Rs 2 crore towards the construction of the Minority Residential School (Girls) building at Adilabad Town, Mandal & District" constructed by the complainant, ACB statement said on Wednesday.

Initially the AO demanded the complainant to give one per cent of the sanctioned bill -- Rs 2 lakhs, but on the request of the complainant he reduced it to Rs 1 lakh and accepted Rs 50,000 as an initial payment.

The tainted reward amount of Rs 50,000 was recovered from the possession of the AO in the said construction site. The fingers of the right and left hands of the AO were yielded positive in the chemical test. Thus, the AO performed his duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

Therefore, the AO was being arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Karimnagar.
