TN: Man held with Rs 77.06 lakh unaccounted cash from Howrah express train

Ariyalur (Tamil Nadu), Mar 1 (UNI) The Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Saturday seized Rs 77.06 lakh unaccounted cash, suspected to be ‘hawala’ money from a passenger aboard the Kolkata-Tiruchirapalli Howrah Express Train at Ariyalur railway station.
RPF was carrying out a special surveillance operation to check illegal transportation of goods under Tiruchirapalli railway jurisdiction, during which a passenger identified as V.Vinodhkumar (28) of Melamathur village in Perambalur district was detained on suspicion, when the Howrah express train in which he was travelling arrived at Ariyalur railway station, police said.
Upon search, RPF personnel found he was in possession of Rs 77.06 lakh cash mostly in Rs 500 denomination in a bag.
