TN: Customs seize 26 exotic reptiles from passenger at Trichy airport

Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu), May 3 (UNI) Customs officials have seized 26 exotic reptiles from a passenger who arrived at Tiruchirapalli International Airport from Bangkok.
Based on intelligence inputs received, one passenger who had arrived at Tiruchirapalli International Airport from Thailand’s Bangkok via Colombo by Flight UL 133 on Friday was intercepted and on examination of his baggage, 26 green pit snakes were seized, Tiruchirapalli Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate said in a post on ‘X’ on Saturday.
A case has been registered against the passenger under the Customs Act, 1962 read with the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
