TN Minister asks parents to raise voice against CBSE’s move to scrap no-detention policy

Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu), May 2 (UNI) Objecting to the Central government’s major change in education policy, Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi on Friday appealed to the parents of students studying under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus to raise their voices against its move to abolish the ‘No Detention Policy.’
The idea of failing students at such a young age would exert immense pressure on children and their parents that will lead to increased dropout rates, he told newsmen here.
Students who fail the annual examinations in Classes 5 and 8 will be held back and must repeat the grade, as per the new rule implemented in the Central government-run schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and Sainik Schools.
