Telangana Minister urges speedy beneficiary selection for Indiramma Housing Scheme; Reviews Bhu Bharathi, NEET exam preparations

Hyderabad, May 2 (UNI) Telangana Revenue, Housing, Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy has directed district collectors to expedite the process of selecting beneficiaries for the 3,500 houses allotted per constituency under the Indiramma Housing Scheme.

He emphasised that at least 500 houses should be allotted in the urban areas of each constituency, and beneficiary approvals should be carried out daily by the in-charge ministers until the selection process is complete.

The Minister, along with Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with District Collectors and Superintendents of Police on Friday to review arrangements for the Bhu Bharathi land records initiative, Indiramma housing allotments, and the upcoming NEET examination.

Speaking during the meeting, Minister Reddy stressed that the construction of each house must adhere to size specifications — not less than 400 square feet and not more than 600 square feet.

He cautioned that any house found ineligible, even midway through construction, would be disqualified. He further instructed that all eligible poor beneficiaries be considered for the scheme, regardless of whether they fall under List-1, List-2, or List-3 categories.

The Minister mentioned that, following the revenue meetings conducted in four mandals from April 17 to 30, similar meetings are now being held in 28 mandals across 28 districts between May 5 and 20, with one mandal per district.

Applications received during the pilot phase must be resolved by May 31, and applicants must be formally notified in writing if their applications are rejected. So far, awareness sessions have been conducted in 590 out of 605 mandals, with participation from 85,527 citizens and 162,577 farmers.

Minister Reddy also stressed the importance of maintaining updated land records. He directed officials to identify individuals who occupy government land without legal title and those who hold titles but do not occupy the land.

In preparation for the NEET exam scheduled for May 4, he instructed officials to ensure smooth arrangements for the 72,572 students expected to appear at 190 centres across 24 districts.

He called for the availability of drinking water, ORS packets, and medical kits at all exam centres, and emphasised the need to issue clear instructions in advance through print and electronic media to assist the candidates.

The meeting was attended by Revenue Department Principal Secretary Naveen Mittal, Housing Secretary Jyoti Buddha Prakash, CCLA Director Makarand, Housing Corporation MD V P Gautam, Law & Order DIG Mahesh Bhagwat, and other senior officials, according to an official statement.
