Union Minister Kishan Reddy inaugurates façade lighting of Kacheguda Railway Station

Hyderabad, June 9 (UNI) Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the newly-installed façade lighting of Kacheguda Railway Station at an event held at the station premises on Monday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy recalled that the façade lighting project was approved during his tenure as Union Minister for Tourism.
He stated that the illumination project has been completed at a cost of Rs 2.23 crore using 775 advanced LED lighting units.
Highlighting the architectural significance of the station, he noted that the Kacheguda Railway Station—built in 1916 in Indo-Gothic style—is a historic landmark in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
The Minister informed that approximately 50,000 passengers use the station daily. Over the years, Kacheguda has received multiple awards and has been recognised as the number one energy-efficient station on Indian Railways.
He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a 400 KWP rooftop solar power plant has been installed at the station as part of energy conservation efforts. The station also leads in digital transactions, he noted.
Reddy further stated that 40 railway stations across Telangana are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Among these, redevelopment works at Begumpet, Karimnagar, and Warangal stations have been completed and were recently inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
He also mentioned that redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station is underway at a cost of Rs 720 crore and progressing swiftly.
In total, rail infrastructure projects worth Rs 42,219 crore are being implemented in Telangana, he said.
Earlier, Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR, delivered the welcome address and noted that the occasion marked a significant milestone in preserving and enhancing the architectural heritage of the twin cities.
He expressed confidence that the vibrant lighting would not only beautify the station but also attract appreciation from both passengers and tourists.
During the function, the Union Minister and other dignitaries felicitated members of the ‘Kachi Welfare Sangham’, acknowledging the community from which Kacheguda Railway Station derives its name.
The event was graced by M Anil Kumar Yadav, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Addanki Dayakar, Member of Legislative Council; and Dr. Palvai Harish Babu, Member of Legislative Assembly, Sirpur, along with several other dignitaries and public representatives.
