Kerala: 12 cows, one calf  run over by train in Palakkad

Palakkad (Kerala), Apr 12 (UNI) A dozen cows and one calf were run over by a superfast train bound for Palakkad from Chennai while they were crossing a Railway track at Meenkara Dam near Meenakshipuram in this district, on Saturday.
The traffic was partially affected on the Pollachi- Palakkad route due to the incident in the morning.
The herd of 13 cows were crossing the railway track as part of the routine grazing in the nearby fields around 0830 hours, when the speeding train mowed them down .
