BJP demands NIA probe into killing of Suhas Shetty, blames Siddaramaiah govt for security lapse

Mangaluru, May 2 (UNI) The brutal murder of Suhas Shetty, a rowdy-sheeter linked to Bajrang Dal and the prime accused in the 2022 Fazil murder case, has sparked outrage across Karnataka. BJP leaders have sharply criticised the Congress-led state government for failing to maintain law and order, with several calling for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiry.
They allege the murder highlights a growing threat to Hindu activists in the state, citing intelligence lapses and a pattern of violence since the current government took office.
Mangaluru City North BJP MLA Y Bharat Shetty criticised the state government's handling of security, calling it a "failure of law and order". He claimed the government indirectly supports rowdies and anti-social elements, while focusing on police transfers and targeting BJP workers. He termed the murder a major loss to the family and Hindu society.
