Nizam VII's descendants' express disappointment over Miss World 2025 welcome dinner exclusion

Hyderabad, May 13 (UNI) The Telangana Tourism Department’s decision to host the Miss World 2025 Welcome Dinner at Chowmahalla Palace without inviting the direct descendants of the VII Nizam of Hyderabad has drawn strong criticism from Nawab Najaf Ali Khan, a grandson of Nizam VII, H.E.H. Nawab Sir Mir Osman Ali Khan Bahadur.

Terming the exclusion “regrettable and unfortunate,” Nawab Najaf Ali Khan said it was disappointing that the family was not acknowledged at an event of global prominence held at a palace owned by their ancestor. He emphasised that the cultural and historical legacy of Hyderabad — including its royal hospitality — owes much to the contributions of the Nizam’s dynasty.

Highlighting an ongoing partition suit over Chowmahalla Palace (O.S. No. 404 of 2021), he reiterated his claim that late Prince Mukarram Jah had wrongly asserted sole ownership of the property.

Najaf Ali Khan urged the Telangana Chief Minister to ensure the sentiments of the Nizam’s family are respected in future events involving their ancestral heritage, a statement said on Tuesday.
