Autorickshaw driver collapses, dies following altercation with bus employees in Malappuram

Malappuram, Mar 7 (UNI) A 49-year-old autorickshaw driver, Abdul Latheef, collapsed and died at a hospital after a physical altercation with private bus staff over a passenger pickup dispute at Othukkungal near Kottakkal on Friday.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Abdul Latheef (49) of Manoor. The confrontation occurred around 10:00 AM when Latheef picked up two female passengers from a bus stop at Vadakkemanna, moments before a PTB private bus on the Manjeri to Tirur route reached the location. This act reportedly irked the bus crew, who chased down Latheef's autorickshaw, intercepted it, and physically assaulted him.
Local residents intervened and defused the situation, after which Latheef, despite his ordeal, managed to drive himself to the Taluk Hospital in Malappuram. However, upon reaching the hospital, he collapsed and was pronounced dead. The body has been sent to Manjeri Medical College Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death, police said.
