NEP is saffron policy, will not bow down to fascist BJP even if it means losing our lives : Stalin

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) Launching a blistering attack on the 'fascist' BJP regime at the Centre, which has been denying due rights to Tamil Nadu on various fronts, Chief Minister and ruling DMK President M K Stalin on Wednesday termed the NEP as a 'saffron policy, and not an education policy and declared that the DMK would not bow down to the saffron party even it meant losing our lives.
Addressing a DMK meeting titled 'Tamil Nadu will fight, Tamil Nadu will win' organised at suburban Tiruvallur to condemn the Centre on various fronts including its attempts to impose Hindi and
Sanskrit in the name of 3-language policy under NEP, refusing to release funds under SSA for failing to accept the NEP and the proposed delimitation exercise based on population which could reduce the number of Lok Sabha seats in the State, Mr Stalin said the DMK would mobilise the entire country to resist and fight against the BJP-led governmet at the Centre.
Listing out the rapid developments the state had witnessed ever since the DMK returned to power in 2021 after a decade gap, the Chief Minister said if a State government was leading by example to the rest of the States in the country, it was the duty of the Centre to stand by it and support it.
Angered by the exit of AIADMK, now Opposition in Tamil Nadu, the BJP, with a view to implement its right wing agenda through backdoor, unable to digest the fast the Tamil Nadu was leading in various fronts, the BJP-led government has been posing obstacles to the welfare measures of the DMK.
"The BJP-led government at the Centre has been creating hindrances for the state's growth in all forms and has been trying to belittle the State", he said.
Noting that Tamil Nadu could not remain a mute spectator to the Centre's indifferent attitude by snatching away its rights and insulting the people of the State, he said they created a situation
where in we have to show the DMK's fighting qualities against the autocratic BJP-led government
at the Centre.
Stating that meetings condemning the Centre were being held across the State, the Chief Minister said whether the DMK was in power or in the Opposition, whether it is the Parliament or the State
Assembly, it will strive to protect the State's rights.
Reiterating his strong opposition to the NEP and labelling it as a "saffron policy" designed to promote Hindi and undermine Tamil Nadu's education system, he flayed the Centre for allegedly using the NEP and the proposed delimitation exercise as political tools to consolidate power in northern states.
Coming down heavily on the BJP of trying to increase its parliamentary strength by manipulating the delimitation process to benefit states where the party holds considerable influence, Mr Stalin vowed that the DMK would stoutly resist such efforts, asserting that the move was aimed at tilting the balance of power in the BJP’s favor.
"We oppose the NEP because it will completely dismantle Tamil Nadu's educational progress. The BJP is trying to impose a three-language policy and eliminate reservation in education, which is a direct attack on social justice," he said.
He further alleged that vocational education under the NEP was a means to introduce caste-based education, limiting opportunities for marginalized communities.
Not sparing the AIADMK, the Chief Minister said during the last ten years the state government was under the Centre's feet, surrendering its rights.
"You all please think, how our state has developed in the last three years after the DMK came to power in 2021 . Think before that how our state was. Tamil Nadu's development was affected for
10 years during the AIADMK government, and it was under Delhi's feet. Without accepting this, the people of Tamil Nadu elected the DMK-led alliance Dravidian Model of government in the 2021
elections. Tamil Nadu has been a front runner in implementing various schemes which was being replicated by other states, he added.
