Stalin condones delay for Kalaignar Varsity Bill assent, says TN Guv not changed despite SC indictment

Chennai, June 16 (UNI) Expressing his clear displeasure over the delay in Raj Bhavan

granting assent to the Bill to set up a university named after late Chief Minister and DMK

Patriarch M Karunanidhi in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Monday

charged that Governor RN Ravi has not changed despite being indicted by the Supreme

Court.

Speaking after distributing welfare measures in Thanjavur district where the varsity was

going to be established, he said the Governor has been sitting on the Bill, adopted in

the State Assembly, with the support of all parties, for nearly 40 days.

Had the Governor given his assent, the foundation stone would have been laid and the

works would have commenced, he said.

By delaying his assent for over 40 days, the Governor has not changed even after the

Apex Court indicted him over the delay in according assent to 10 Bills, which were later

notified as Act after the Court ruled that they were deemed to have got his assent.

He had also said he had seen such an obstructionist Governor,” he said, citing the delay

despite sending reminders.
