CSIR-IICT’s scientist awarded INSA distinguished Lecture Fellowship 2025

Hyderabad, May 13 (UNI) Dr Surya Prakash Singh, Senior Principal Scientist at the CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad, has been awarded the prestigious INSA Distinguished Lecture Fellowship for 2025 by the Indian National Science Academy (INSA).
This esteemed recognition highlights the achievements of exceptional young scientists across India.
Dr Singh becomes the first scientist from CSIR-IICT and the city of Hyderabad to receive this honour, marking a significant milestone for both the institute and the region.
He leads an innovative research group at CSIR-IICT, focusing on translational research in sustainable energy and materials science. His work emphasises the design of advanced molecular materials—particularly photosensitisers—to enhance the efficiency of next-generation solar technologies, including dye-sensitized, organic, and perovskite solar cells. His interdisciplinary approach combines organic chemistry, materials science, and device engineering to address critical challenges in renewable energy.
One of Dr Singh’s notable accomplishments is the development of neutral, non-toxic, stable, and highly fluorescent BODIPY dyes for mitochondrial imaging in biological systems, a breakthrough with promising applications in biomedical research.
Dr Singh has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the CRSI Bronze Medal (2024), NASI-Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee Award (2012), AVRA Young Scientist Award (2015), and the Bhaskara Advanced Solar Energy Fellowship awarded by the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF).
He was also recognised by the Council of Science & Technology, Government of Uttar Pradesh, and elected as an INSA Associate Fellow in 2024.
He has authored over 245 research papers in leading international journals such as Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS), Angewandte Chemie, Advanced Functional Materials, and Chemical Communications. His pioneering work continues to advance scientific understanding while addressing global needs in clean energy and sustainable technologies, a statement here said on Tuesday.
