Vaibhav Suryavanshi creates history with blistering century at 14 years

Jaipur, Apr 28 (UNI) In scenes of sheer cricketing magic at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Monday, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name into the history books by becoming the youngest ever to score a T20 century, and the second-fastest in IPL history, during Rajasthan Royals' (RR) clash against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Suryavanshi reached the milestone in just 35 balls, eclipsed only by Chris Gayle's record 30-ball blitzkrieg for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) against Pune Warriors India (PWI) in 2013. He brought up his century in dramatic fashion, pulling Rashid Khan for a six over deep mid-wicket to spark wild celebrations in the stands.
Rajasthan Royals' team mentor Rahul Dravid, visibly emotional, was seen rising to applaud from his wheelchair.
The prodigious youngster completed his half-century off a mere 17 balls — the fastest fifty of IPL 2025, and the second-fastest ever for Rajasthan Royals — by elegantly lofting Washington Sundar over extra cover for four.
Suryavanshi, aged 14 years and 32 days, now holds the record for the youngest T20 centurion, surpassing previous record-holders such as Vijay Zol (18 years, 118 days), Pervez Hossain Emon (18 years, 179 days), and Gustav McKeon (18 years, 280 days).
Batting with fearless aggression, Suryavanshi showcased a stunning array of strokes, taking on worldclass bowlers with audacious confidence. GT’s bowlers were left shell-shocked as the teenager dismantled their attack, racing to triple figures with a series of crisp pulls, authoritative drives and calculated lofts.
His innings was studded with clean hitting and a maturity that belied his age, leaving seasoned cricket observers astounded. Fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, who shared a solid stand with Suryavanshi, was among the first to embrace the youngster after the landmark, while the entire RR dugout stood to applaud the extraordinary feat.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s historic innings also saw him register the fastest fifty against Gujarat Titans, and he now holds the record for the youngest ever to score a century in the Indian Premier League.
