Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to field against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 33 of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium here on Thursday.
Skipper Hardik Pandya cited dew as the primary factor behind the decision. "We are going to bowl first. Last night there was dew and at the Wankhede it is always better to bat second," he said at the toss. MI have retained the same playing XI.
Commenting on the team's approach, Hardik added, "Everyone knew we had to give it all and that made us close. That is depending on the situation, we back all the batsmen in our team." On Jasprit Bumrah's availability, he reassured fans, "He is fine. We don't need to worry about Jasprit Bumrah."
Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins was unperturbed about losing the toss, stating, "That's fine. It looks a pretty good wicket." SRH too go in unchanged. "I think Abhi is still looking at the highlights (laughs). But we had a nice break, a couple of practice sessions and here we are," Cummins said, referring to opener Abhishek Sharma.
Asked about reverse swing potentially playing a role, the Aussie pacer said, "I don't think so. Certain venues like Hyderabad because it is dry, but it will be even tougher to get reverse swing as the tournament progresses and the dew sets in."
