Aizawl International Half Marathon 2025 concludes on a high note

Aizawl, Apr (UNI) Mizoram’s first-ever international half marathon, the Aizawl International Half Marathon 2025 (AIHM 2025), concluded successfully this morning with a vibrant closing and felicitation ceremony held at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Aizawl.
Organised jointly by the Sports & Youth Services Department of the Government of Mizoram, the Athletic Federation of India, and Innovations India Pvt. Ltd., the event drew over 1,500 enthusiastic participants across multiple categories.
The races, flagged off at 6:30 AM by Sports & Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, featured four segments: the Half Marathon (21.1 km), Open Race (10 km), Fun Race (5 km), and Junior Category (5 km). Competitors followed a scenic route from Rajiv Gandhi Stadium along World Bank Road before returning to the stadium. A total prize pool of Rs 10 lakh was awarded to winners in the various categories.
At the felicitation ceremony, Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd), who is also the Patron of AIHM 2025, lauded the organisers for successfully hosting the international event. In his address, he emphasised the need for even larger and more inclusive marathons in the future, encouraging greater public participation and sustained efforts towards promoting health and fitness. He congratulated the Sports Minister, the Athletic Federation of India, Innovations India Pvt. Ltd., and all associated stakeholders for their dedication. The Governor also expressed confidence that the Aizawl International Half Marathon would soon emerge as one of the most popular sporting events in India.
Sports & Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic response from runners, especially those from outside Mizoram. Announcing that the next edition of the Aizawl International Half Marathon is scheduled for February 14, 2026, he called for even greater participation and extended an open invitation to all.
Among those present at the closing ceremony were PWD Minister Vanlalhlana, Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Lalthansanga, Deputy Speaker Lalfamkima, Adviser to Chief Minister Lalmuanpuia Punte, MLA Jeje Lalpekhlua, Capt. Rahul Bali, CEO of Innovations India Pvt. Ltd., and other dignitaries and officials.
The winners of the Aizawl International Half Marathon 2025 in various categories were felicitated at the event.
