Meghalaya committed to invest more in sports: CM

Shillong, Feb 26 (UNI) Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday said that his government is committed to investing more in sports at the grassroots level.
“In less than 24 months from now on Meghalaya will be hosting the National Games and there are multiple aspects associated to this mega event and it is not only about Sports requiring huge logistics and infrastructure support and effort to be put in by each one of us to be able to successfully host the 39th National Games but it is also to improve on our medal tally and multiple strategies have to be adopted by us towards successful hosting and improving our performance and medal tally,” Sangma said.
Speaking at a felicitation programme for the medal winners who brought laurels to the state in the recently concluded 38th National Games at Uttrakhand, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to both infrastructure development and athlete support.
