Siddharth, Nikita among winners on Day 1 of SMK Open

Bengaluru, Apr 1 (UNI) The opening day of the SM Krishna Memorial Openhere witnessed impressive performances as Siddharth Rawat, Nikita Ianin, Chirag Duhan, Maxim Zhukov, Nick Chappell, and Ryuki Matsuda emerged victorious in their respective singles fixtures on Tuesday.
In a much-anticipated clash at the recently renamed SM Krishna Tennis Stadium, Siddharth Rawat defeated Digvijay Pratap Singh in straight sets. Although Digvijay claimed the first game, Siddharth quickly found his rhythm, prevailing 6-4, 6-4 despite being tested in a series of long rallies.
Reflecting on the match, Siddharth stated, "We had played previously a few times, but usually much deeper in the competition, so this was different. I started well, but I think Digvijay was a little rusty because he's coming back after a long time. Even in the crucial points, he gave me a few opportunities that eased the pressure."
