Mumbai, Mar 22 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has decided to acquire a plot of land to construct a grand memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Agra in Uttar Pradesh, where the Maratha warrior king was kept under house arrest, officials said here on Saturday.
“The government will build a grand memorial of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Agra, where he was under house arrest…In order to achieve the right impact of the glorious history of Maharaj in this bravery memorial, the necessary activities (museum, audio-visual programs, documentaries, etc.) will be implemented through the (tourism) department,” stated the Government Resolution (GR).
The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation will function as the "implementing mechanism", while the tourism department will provide the necessary funds for the project.
