Maha: Police book unidentified person for leaking girl's private photos, videos online

Mumbai, May 13 (UNI) Police have registered an FIR after an 18-year-old girl claimed that her private photos and videos were leaked and circulated on social media, allegedly with the intent to publicly humiliate her, police said here on Tuesday.
The Powai police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and for defamation against an unidentified accused.
The matter came to light when her brother noticed the objectionable posts and confronted her. Upon checking, she realised that private moments shared with her ex-boyfriend had been made public without her consent.
According to the police, the complainant had been in a relationship in the past during which the two had clicked some personal photos and recorded videos.
The relationship ended a few months ago, and they were no longer in contact.
Police suspect someone accessed her account and uploaded the old content with malicious intent.
Investigation is going on, sources added.
