Hailstorms hit isolated areas in HP, MP, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra

Pune, May 7 (UNI) Hailstorms occurred at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Madhya Maharashtra, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

Day Temperatures were above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at a few places over Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Kerala, Mahe, Assam and Meghalaya; at isolated places over Konkan, Goa, coastal Karnataka, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Odisha, the IMD bulletin said.

The temperatures were markedly below normal (-5.1 or below) at many places over Rajasthan; at a few places over Gujarat, west Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Bihar.

The temperatures were appreciably below normal (-3.1°C to -5.0°C) at many places over east Madhya Pradesh, Punjab; at a few places over Vidarbha, Gangetic West Bengal, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi; at isolated places over Jammu, Marathwada, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.

The below normal temperatures (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) were recorded at a few places over Odisha; at isolated places over Jharkhand, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Maharashtra.

The temperatures were normal over rest of the country.

On Tuesday, the highest maximum temperature of 41.3°C was reported at Nandyal (Rayalaseema) in the country.

Rain or thundershowers have occurred at many places in Gujarat Region and at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sub Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Vidarbha, Saurashtra and Kutch, Konkan and Goa, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Rain and thunderstorms have also occurred at isolated places in Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh, west Rajasthan, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, north interior Karnataka and Kerala. Mainly dry weather has prevailed in west Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

Southwest Monsoon is very likely to advance into south Andaman Sea, some parts of southeast Bay of Bengal and Nicobar Islands around May 13, the bulletin said.
