Afghan police seize over 44,000 stimulant tablets, destroy drug labs

Kabul, Apr 21 (UNI) Afghan police have seized 44,100 stimulant tablets in Nimroz province in western Afghanistan, the office of the Deputy Minister of Interior for Counter-Narcotics said in a statement on Sunday.
Acting on a tip-off, the counter-narcotic police found the stimulant tablets during an operation conducted on the outskirts of Zaranj city, the capital of the province, the statement asserted.
In the fight against illicit drug use, Afghan security forces have smashed several clandestine drug processing labs in western Ghor province, the authority said in a separate statement.
The Afghan interim government banned the cultivation of illegal crops, and since then, the administration has been fighting to get the once-poppy-growing Afghanistan rid of the drug menace.
