Washington, Feb 28 (UNI) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived at the White House on Friday to meet with US President Donald Trump and sign the rare earth minerals deal, according to a TV broadcast.
Zelenskyy arrived at the White House from a nearby hotel at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time (16:20 GMT) and was greeted by Trump at the West Wing entrance. As Trump shook hands with Zelenskyy, he noted that the Ukrainian leader was "all dressed up."
The main topic of the bilateral meeting will be signing an agreement on rare earth minerals, which Trump insisted on.
According to Fox Business, the agreement will allow the United States to return some of the hundreds of billions provided to Kiev as military and financial support by acquiring a portion of the earnings from the development of Ukrainian rare earth minerals, oil, and gas, as well as infrastructure projects such as data centers.
On Thursday, White House National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett said that the United States estimates to get around $20 billion from the rare earth minerals deal with Ukraine.
