6 killed in Russia apartment fire

Moscow, Mar 18 (UNI) Six people, including five children, were killed after a fire broke out in a two-story apartment building in a village in Russia's Bashkortostan Republic, local emergency services said Tuesday on its Telegram channel.

The fire reportedly originated from a suspended ceiling on the second floor of the building early Tuesday morning. By the time emergency responders arrived, the flames had already been extinguished, and the fire was confined to 2.5 square meters.

Despite the small size of the fire, rescuers discovered the bodies of three girls, two boys and a 33-year-old man inside the apartment.

Bashkortostan is a Russian federal subject about 1,200 km east of Moscow.
