Kyiv, Feb 25 (UNI) The Irish government is planning to supply aging Giraffe Mark IV air defence radar systems to Ukraine, The Irish Times newspaper reported, citing sources.
Ireland has seven Giraffe systems, the report said on Monday, adding that it is not known yet whether the country plans to hand over all or just some of them. However, the newspaper reported that at least three Giraffe systems will be sent to Kiev.
"In terms of the Giraffe system, we are waiting on arrangements with the Ukrainian armed forces in relation to their acceptance of the systems and the provision of training," a source was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
A team will accompany the systems to train Ukrainian troops to use them, the report added.
