Poland, US sign new agreement on construction of Poland's 1st NPP: PM

Warsa, Apr 28 (UNI) Poland and the United States have signed a new agreement on the construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant (NPP), Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Monday after his talks with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
"We have changed many key points in 16 clauses. The guarantees are stronger and the investment is more secure. This cooperation will result in the construction of a nuclear power plant in the north of our country ... As a result of the efforts of both sides, it is safe to say today that Polish-US cooperation in the field of nuclear energy is going well," Tusk said.
Poland considers it very important that this agreement is beneficial for both sides, Tusk added.
Wright, for his part, said that the construction of the Polish NPP would create tens of thousands of jobs.
The construction of Poland's first NPP is scheduled for 2028, with its commissioning set for 2036. The government will allocate 60.2 billion zlotys ($15 billion) from the state budget to finance the project.
