Riyadh, June 17 (UNI) Saudi Arabia has signed deals to buy aircraft from European aerospace corporation Airbus worth about $16 billion, Le Monde newspaper reported.
The agreements were announced during the opening of the International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget on Monday, the report said. In particular, a contract between Airbus and Saudi leasing agency AviLease will cost $7 billion, while a contract with Saudi flag carrier Riyadh Air will be worth $9 billion, the report added.
"AviLease, the global aircraft lessor headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has announced an initial order for 10 A350F freighters and 30 A320neo Family aircraft. The agreement which also foresees a future increase to 22 A350F freighters and 55 A320neo Family aircraft was signed at the 2025 Paris Airshow," Airbus said in a statement on Monday.
The company added that Riyadh Air acquired 25 A350-1000 aircraft with the option to increase the order to 50 aircraft.
Earlier on Monday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Polish airline LOT had bought 40 Airbus A220 aircraft with the option to buy 44 more.
