NTPC adopts wildlife animals at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park

Patna, Mar 25 (UNI) In a significant step towards wildlife conservation, NTPC Eastern Region-I Headquarters has adopted four wildlife animals and two bird enclosures under its innovative environmental Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, Patna.
Demonstrating its commitment to biodiversity preservation, NTPC(ER) has contributed Rs. 23,79,100 to support the feeding and maintenance of these animals for three years.
The cheque was handed over by Sudip Nag, Regional Executive Director (East-I), NTPC, to Hemant Patil, Director, Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park, in a formal event held today at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park premises. The adoption includes a tiger named Keshri, an elephant named Laxmi, a lion cub of Parvati, a Himalayan sow named Manjula, along with pelicans and bird enclosures, ensuring their care till March 17, 2028.
This initiative highlights NTPC's unwavering dedication to wildlife conservation and environmental sustainability. As part of its commitment, NTPC will bear the costs associated with feeding and caring for these six species, reinforcing its role in protecting endangered wildlife.
To further promote awareness about wildlife protection, NTPC plans to install a prominent signboard near these enclosures, carrying messages that emphasize the importance of preserving natural heritage and fostering environmental responsibility among visitors.
Speaking on the occasion, Sudip Nag stated, “Through this noble initiative, we aim to inspire a greater sense of responsibility and awareness among our community regarding wildlife protection and environmental stewardship.”
