Odisha: Police unearth car theft racket, four youths held

Puri (Odisha), Mar 22 (UNI) Puri police have busted an inter-district car theft racket, arrested four youths, and recovered the stolen car from their possession.
According to the town police, on March 4, Ranjan Kumar Ghosh from Hugli, West Bengal, traveled to Puri by road in a car.
He parked the vehicle near Sarada Lodge at night, but the next morning, he discovered that it was missing. Ghosh immediately lodged a complaint at the Town Police Station.
Police examined CCTV footage, tracked the movement of the stolen vehicle, and found the car in Firingia village of Kandhamal district. The police seized the car and detained a person who had purchased the stolen property.
Later, police arrested three more individuals—Anil Kumar Sahoo of Ratanpur in Nayagarh district, Santosh Kumar Jagdeb of Rajsunakhala in Khurda, and Dilip Kumar Kahanra—along with Kailash Chandra Jagdeb, the person who had purchased the stolen car. They were forwarded to court on Thursday.
The SDJM denied their bail plea and remanded them to judicial custody.
According to the police, the accused are involved in multiple theft cases under the jurisdictions of Infocity, Balugaon, Bolgarh, Tomando, Banapur, and Khandagiri police stations.
