Bhubaneswar, Apr 10 (UNI) The Odisha government is planning to set up a Cyber Crime Command Centre to strengthen the cyber crime infrastructure in the state, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said.
In addition, there are also plans to create a "Crime Scene Officer" post in every police station, Majhi told reporters upon his return from Delhi on Wednesday night.
The Chief Minister said that during his visit to Delhi, he held discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the steps taken by the state government to improve the law and order situation in Odisha, and the cooperation required from the central government.
Majhi further stated that he had detailed discussions on the implementation of new criminal laws in Odisha and the various measures taken to combat Naxalism.
Describing his meeting with the Union Home Minister as "very positive," Majhi said Shah expressed satisfaction with the state government's efforts to maintain law and order and encouraged further strengthening of these initiatives.
The government, he added, has formulated a plan to reinforce the police force by recruiting over 12,000 personnel to handle various challenges across the state.
Among other topics discussed were the implementation of new criminal laws, the establishment of 20 new cyber police stations, and the deployment of forensic vehicles across all subdivisions.
Majhi also announced the creation of 2,000 new traffic police posts to address traffic-related issues.
Regarding anti-Naxal operations, he said Odisha has made notable progress in tackling Maoist activities and is further strengthening preparedness in about 10 districts where Maoist presence is more prominent.
“We have developed micro-level action plans at the subdivision level to combat Maoist activities,” the Chief Minister stated.
He emphasized the use of modern technologies such as Heron drones, UAVs, interceptors, and others. Additionally, the state government has decided to form a special strike force comprising ex-servicemen, with three special battalions planned.
Odisha, he noted, has immense potential to emerge as an industrialized state, and maintaining law and order in industrial zones is crucial.
To this end, the state government has proposed the formation of the Odisha Industrial Security Force (OISF) and has held discussions with the central government in this regard.
Majhi claimed that the Home Minister expressed satisfaction with the state government's initiatives and assured full support from the central government in maintaining law and order in Odisha.
