Officials to face music for ignoring public issues in UP

Lucknow, Apr 28 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to take strict action against officers and employees neglecting letters from MPs, MLAs and public representatives to ensure the immediate resolution of public issues, official sources said here on Monday.
Sources said that following the order of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Parliamentary Affairs Department has issued a directive to all key officials, including Principal Secretaries, DGPs, Divisional Commissioners and District Magistrates.
Sources said that the Yogi government has issued strict instructions to address public issues effectively. "A correspondence register must be maintained in every government office to record letters from public representatives. Replies should be sent immediately upon receipt and the status of the issue's resolution should be communicated to the representative concerned, eliminating the need for repeated correspondence," they said.
Sources said that CM Yogi has emphasised the importance of addressing public representatives' letters with seriousness, ensuring no negligence in resolving issues. "He has issued strict directives that any negligence in handling the concerns of the public will not be tolerated," they said.
Sources said that a correspondence register is now mandatory in all departments and offices to record letters from public representatives. "Complete information must be provided immediately upon receipt of a letter and updates on the resolution must be shared. In line with the CM's directives, any officer or employee who neglects public representatives' letters will face strict disciplinary action," they said.
Sources said that under the leadership of CM Yogi, this decision will enhance transparency and accountability in governance. "Departments are now required to act swiftly and effectively on letters from public representatives," they said.
Sources said that the move will strengthen the connection between the state government, public representatives and the public, ensuring timely resolution of issues and improving administrative efficiency.
