Opposition AIADMK, BJP walks out of TN Assembly, boycotts budget speech

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) The main Opposition AIADMK and the BJP staged a walk out

from the Tamil Nadu Assembly over the recent ED raids on state-owned TASMAC and

distilleries that unearthed Rs 1,000 crore irregularities on Friday.

They also boycotted the State budget presented by Finance Minister Thangam

Thennarasu on the opening day of the session today.

Later, talking to reporters outside the Assembly premises, Leader of the Opposition

and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami cited the recent ED raids

in Tasmac that revealed irregularities to the tune of over Rs 1,000 crore and demanded

the resignation of the DMK government.

He said the AIADMK members staged a walkout as Speaker M. Appavu refused

permission to raise this issue as well as the no-confidence motion against him.

BJP members too staged a walk out.

Talking to newsmen, BJP floor leader Nainar Nagendran said sought to raise the

ED Tasnmac raids and the State government’s decision replacing the Indian Rupee
