Over 600 children run in IRONKIDS Bengaluru

Bengaluru, June 2 (UNI) Bengaluru played host to a landmark event, as over 600 children from across the city took part in the inaugural Policybazaar IRONKIDS Bengaluru — India’s first standalone IRONKIDS race.
Organised by the globally recognised IRONMAN triathlon brand here on Monday, the event marked a significant milestone in India's youth fitness movement, providing children aged 6 to 16 an exclusive platform to engage in competitive running while fostering a spirit of health, camaraderie, and fun.
The event was flagged off by a distinguished panel including retired Col Jangvir Lamba, former Olympian Nisha Millet, former HealthifyMe President Saurabh Aggarwal, and Vijayaraghavan Venugopal, Co-founder and CEO of Fast&Up.
The young participants competed in three age-based categories - a 1km run for ages 6-8, a 2km run for ages 9-12, and a 3km endurance race for those aged 13-16. The race attracted a diverse mix of first-time runners and experienced young athletes, energising the venue with excitement and enthusiasm.
Deepak Raj, CEO of Yoska, expressed optimism about the future of IRONKIDS in India, stating, "The atmosphere was electric with parents and schools turning up in strong numbers to support their children. This is just the beginning, and we are committed to expanding IRONKIDS across more metros and cities nationwide to build a healthy, active generation."
The event also underscored inclusivity, with 45 children from Home of Faith, a charitable trust supporting underprivileged youth, participating thanks to sponsorship by Policybazaar. Shaini, campus coordinator at Home of Faith, praised the initiative: "Seeing these children run and make memories is heartwarming. This experience is a stepping stone to instilling fitness habits for the future."
Among the inspiring young athletes was 14-year-old Arnav Kashyap, who, motivated by the achievements of Col Jangvir Lamba, a two-time IRONMAN 70.3 finisher, ran alongside his neighbour to chase the thrill of crossing the finish line. "Lamba uncle's success pushed me to try this race. I give IRONKIDS five stars. It’s perfect for kids like me who aren’t ready for adult marathons yet, and it has motivated me to aim for IRONMAN in the coming years," Arnav shared.
With this successful launch, IRONKIDS Bengaluru has set a high standard and paved the way for more youth-centric fitness events across India, nurturing a generation that values activity, resilience, and community.
