Pak postpones mass Afghan deportations until Apr 10 - Reports

Islamabad, Apr 2 (UNI) Pakistan has delayed until April 10 the start of its mass deportation of the Afghans who crossed into the country illegally, Pakistani newspaper Dawn reported on Tuesday.
The postponement from April 1 to April 10 is due to the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the Ramadan holy month, the newspaper said.
About 3 million Afghans residing in Pakistan illegally are reportedly designated for deportations.
Pakistan's government launched the deportation campaign in 2023, citing security concerns over Afghan illegal migrants' potential terrorist links. According to UN data, about 845,000 Afghans have left Pakistan over the past 18 months. The government gave those remaining until March 31 to leave voluntarily or face deportation.

Canberra, Apr 3 (UNI) Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called the 10% tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on Canberra "completely unjustified."
"For Australia these tariffs are not unexpected, but let me be clear: they are totally unwarranted. President Trump refers to reciprocal tariffs. A reciprocal tariff would be zero, not 10%. The administration’s tariffs have no basis in logic and are going against the basis of a two nations’ partnership. This is not the act of a friend," Albanese said on Wednesday.
