Pak to send about 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid to earthquake-hit Myanmar

Islamabad, Apr 1 (UNI) Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed condolences to his Myanmar counterpart, Min Aung Hlaing, over the recent earthquake and said that the country will send about 70 tonnes of humanitarian aid, Pakistani media reported.
The humanitarian aid is expected to arrive in two batches over the next two days, the Geo TV broadcaster reported on Monday.
A 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, with tremors felt in Bangladesh, India, Laos, China and Thailand. The quake damaged underground oil pipelines, local authorities said on Saturday, adding that power lines had also been cut and oil tankers were arriving on the country's shores to ease fuel shortages. A number of countries, including Russia and Belarus, have been assisting Myanmar with relief efforts, including by sending rescue teams.
According to data from Chinese news agency Xinhua, the death toll in Myanmar has exceeded 2,000, with about 3,900 people injured and about 270 missing. China has its teams involved in the search and rescue operations on the ground, among other countries.
