PM Modi pays tribute to tribal heroes on Hul Diwas

New Delhi, June 30 (UNI) On the occasion of Hul Diwas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid rich tributes to the valour and sacrifice of India’s tribal communities, recalling their pivotal role in the struggle against colonial rule.

Marking the anniversary of the historic Santhal uprising of 1855, the Prime Minister honoured the legacy of revered freedom fighters—Sido and Kanhu Murmu, Chand and Bhairav, Phulo and Jhano—along with countless other tribal martyrs who laid down their lives resisting British oppression.

Taking to social media platform X, Modi wrote, "Hul Diwas reminds us of the indomitable courage and extraordinary valour of our tribal society. On this special occasion commemorating the historic Santhal rebellion, I bow in reverence to Sido-Kanhu, Chand-Bhairav, Phulo-Jhano, and all the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives fighting against foreign tyranny. Their saga of bravery will continue to inspire generations to safeguard the pride of our motherland."
