Police crack major heist, Rs 75 lakh booty recovered

Bapatla, AP, Apr 5 (UNI) The police cracked a major heist within 24 hours by arresting an interstate notorious thief and recovered Rs 75 lakh booty including cash and gold jewellery.
SP Tushar Dudi told the media here on Saturday that the interstate thief committed burglary in a house on April 3 and made away with Rs 55.50 lakh cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh at Inkollu village and a case under sections 331(4), 305(a) of BNS was registered at the Inkollu Police station.
The SP said that complainant Jagarlamudu Shiva Prasad resides in his house located opposite to the RTC bus stand at Inkollu village.
The offender, Mohammad Shareef, is a resident of Balaji Nagar at Ahmedpur village of Gajwal mandal in Siddipet district in Telangana State. Complainant Shiva Prasad kept Rs 55.50 lakh in the steel almirah in his house. The money he received from the students of his school as fee and also by selling his peanut produce. He also preserved 24 gold jewellery worth Rs 20 lakh in the almirah.
The interstate thief Mohammad Sharif intruded into the house, broke open the steel almirah and made away with the money and gold jewellery. The victim lodged a complaint on April 4 at 8:30 am with the Inkollu police.
The accused Sharif was addicted to bad vices at the age of 19 years old and committed thefts to earn easy money for his expenditures and his wife deserted him.
The accused has committed 14 property offences and convicted some crimes and some crimes are still pending.
The accused has acquaintance with a person Sai of Inkollu village during the convection period of the accused at Chanchalguda central prison and became friends.
The accused came to Inkollu village and was working as a cook in a shop. A police team arrested the thief Sheriff near the water servicing point of Shaik Subhani at Inkollu, Aadavakururu cross road and recovered the cash and gold jewellery.
SP Tushar Dudi called upon people to inform police when they leave the station so that the police will lay a vigil on the house and provide protection. He also asked the people to install CCTV cameras around their houses.
The SP appreciated the police personnel including DSP Mohammad Moin who arrested the notorious thief within 24 hours of the burglary.
