Pondy University gets PAIR grant from ANRF

Chennai, Apr 28 (UNI) Pondicherry University has been granted the prestigious ANRF-PAIR grant in collaboration with IISc Bangalore which will serve as Hub institute.
Partnerships for Accelerated Innovation and Research (PAIR) grant envisioned by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), as part of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020)
is a collaborative research scheme aims to enhance the research capabilities and partnerships between the leading universities and research institutions, a PIB release said here on Monday.
Among the three categories based on the NIRF ranking, Pondicherry University is one among the
top central universities listed as a Category-I spoke institute. As a Category-I spoke institute under PAIR scheme, PU will work closely and partner with IISc Bangalore which is the Hub institute and other spoke institutes such as IIEST Shibpur, NIT Nagaland, Calicut University, Bangalore University and Kumaun University.
Pondicherry University Vice Chancellor Prof. Prakash Babu congratulated the entire PU team, faculty members and collaborators from the hub and other spoke institutions. It is a significant achievement on part of Pondicherry University moving towards excellence in science and technological research.
ANRF called for the PAIR proposal in the month of January and after rigorous scrutiny, the proposal was shortlisted for presentation. The presentation was made at Indian academy of sciences Bangalore.
The presentation was made by the hub institute and defended by all the spoke institutes. Pondicherry University team comprising of Vice Chancellor, Director Research and Project Nodal Officer defended the PU proposal.
ANRF-PAIR network project proposal headed by IISc Bangalore as hub and Pondicherry University as one of the spokes, focuses on the transdisciplinary research, in particular functional materials, biomaterials, computational materials towards energy, bio-sensing, healthcare, catalysis and tissue engineering applications.
PAIR network grant provides an opportunity for collaborative researches, training programs, academic exchanges of students, scholars and faculties that will accelerate the innovative researches at PU.
This joint project will leverage the expertise of faculty and researchers from the host and hub institutions to address pressing scientific and societal challenges.
PAIR network grant also provides an avenue for access to advanced research facilities, knowledge exchange between the hub and the other spoke institutes. Among the 30 Hubs institutes applied for the PAIR grant, only 7 Hubs have been awarded.
The awarded hubs are IISc, 3 IITs, 1 NIT and 2 central Universities. Among the states of Puducherry, Tamilnadu and Kerala, Pondicherry University is the only central university made into the selected Spoke institute.
