Promoted Leeds celebrate by thumping Bristol City

London, Apr 29 (UNI) Premier League-bound Leeds United cruised to victory over play-off chasing Bristol City in front of a jubilant Elland Road.

Ao Tanaka and Willy Gnonto scored before Largie Ramazani added two late goals to complete a resounding win.

The Whites' promotion was confirmed last Monday and fans who turned up in the mood for a party were treated to a dominant display, with Tanaka putting them in front with a composed finish from Manor Solomon's deep cross.

Needing wins from their final two games to confirm the title and reach 100 points, Leeds did not let

up and the fifth-placed visitors did well to stay in the game for as long as they did.

Leeds deservedly made it 2-0 10 minutes into the second half when Gnonto clipped a cool finish beyond the excellent Max O'Leary from Joel Piroe's defence-splitting pass.

And Ramazani netted twice after coming on, scoring with his first touch and then adding the fourth in the final seconds.

A win at all-but relegated Plymouth on Saturday will seal the title for Daniel Farke's men - and in this form it is hard to see past them doing that.

Bristol City can secure a play-off berth with victory over Preston on the final day of the regular season, but this was a hugely challenging night against a team only four places above them but 30 points better off.

Leeds, who have scored 26 goals more than the next highest scorers in the division, soaked up the richly deserved acclaim from their passionate support as the final whistle blew.

Whites fans were denied the chance to properly celebrate promotion to the Premier League after 16 years away in 2020, when they won the Championship title in front of empty stands because of the Covid-19 pandemic, and they were keen to make up for it as the players did a buoyant lap of honour.

Bigger challenges await them next season as they look to end the worrying run of promoted teams being relegated after one season in the top flight, but this has been a near-flawless campaign for the West Yorkshire side.
