Chandigarh, Mar 17 (UNI) One of the suspects in the Amritsar temple attack case was killed in an encounter with police, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Monday.
Yadav told media that a police constable was also injured in the encounter.
He said that Amritsar police tracked down suspects in Rajsansi and confronted them. However, the accused opened fire on police party.
A head constable Gurpreet Singh was injured in the firing and the bullet hit the turban of police inspector Amolak Singh.
The DGP said that in retaliatory firing by the police, a suspect was killed and other accused managed to escape.
He said that a FIR has been registered at Airport police station in this regard.
Two motorcycle-borne persons had hurled an explosive object at Thakur Dwara Temple in Khandwala of Amritsar on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.
