Punjab: BSF nabs 2 drug smugglers

Amritsar, Mar 18 (UNI) In a joint operation, BSF and Punjab police laid an ambush in village Dal following intelligence inputs about cross-border smuggling using drones.
A BSF spokesman said here on Tuesday that during the operation, the ambush team spotted two individuals attempting to retrieve a consignment. As they tried to flee, the team swiftly chased and apprehended them.
He said that a search of the smugglers led to the recovery of a packet of heroin weighing 557 gms, two mobile phones and one motorcycle. The heroin packet was wrapped in yellow tape with a steel ring attached, confirming it as a drone drop.
The arrested individuals hail from Chung and Mari Megha villages in Tarn Taran district.
The apprehended smugglers have been handed over to local police for further investigation to uncover their linkages.
