Amritsar, Mar 15 (UNI) An explosion took place outside Thakur Dwara Temple in Punjab's Amritsar Khandwala area in the wee hours of Saturday, police said.
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the police were informed about the incident at around 2 am by the temple priest.
He said he and other senior officials had reached the spot. No one was injured in the incident, he said. The walls of the temple were damaged and window panes were broken, he said.
The CCTV footage of the incident showed two unidentified persons coming towards the 'Thakur Dwara temple' on a motorcycle. After waiting for a few seconds, one of them throws some explosive material towards the temple and then they flee from the spot.
Bhullar said police teams are trying to trace out those involved in the blast and said they will be nabbed soon. The forensic team has collected samples from the spot and further investigations are underway, he said.
There have been several incidents of blasts targeting police posts in Amritsar and Gurdaspur in the last four months.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in a post on X, said, "Drones are coming from Pakistan. I want to assure people of Punjab that the state is safe. The police will solve the cases soon. "
