Punjab: Man arrested for desecrating Shivling at Dera Baba Dayal Dass Ji

Hoshirpur, Mar 21 (UNI) A 25-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly desecrating a Shivling
at Dera Baba Dayal Dass Ji Cheeni Ghati in village Bichhohi, the police said.
SI Jagjit Singh, said that the Dera is situated in a hilly forest area, approximately 10 kilometers from Maili village, requiring a climb of about 2 kilometers on foot to reach the site.
According to Manohar Dass, a Sewadar of the Dera, some unidentified persons had removed the Shivling from its place, disrespected it, and pushed it down a slope, causing damage. Following his complaint, a case was registered at Chabbewal Police station.
During the investigation, Mandeep Singh (25), of Maili village, emerged as the prime suspect and was subsequently arrested. His preliminary interrogation indicated his involvement in the crime.
"The accused is being produced in court to seek police remand for further investigation," said SI Jagjit Singh UNI GS SSP
